Mike Murphy

1973 - 1975

  • Lead Vocals

Mike joined REO Speedwagon in 1973 during recording of the Ridin The Storm Out album. He re-recorded the vocal tracks which had previously been recorded by Kevin Cronin. (Kevin's original version of Son of a Poor Man appears on the album A Decade of Rock and Roll)

Mike also featured on the album Lost In A Dream, on which he co-wrote the title track with Bruce Hall, (who later joined the band on bass), as well as 5 other tracks.

He left the band in 1975 after the recording of This Time We Mean It, from which his single Reelin was taken.
